Women Work
CASE STUDY
Situation
Women Work is the business companion to all professional women looking to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to go! They provide opportunities, training, and funding to ensure that Kenyan women have the tools and resources to create opportunities for themselves. During one of these sessions in one of the counties, a commotion erupted as some women had been misinformed on the criteria of applying and getting a loan from the organization, the brand was now in full crisis mode and as their strategic communications partners, we were called in to help the brand damage control media and re-assure their various stakeholders.
Approach
Knowing the veracity of the situation and the swift response it required we instantly got in touch with the team on the ground for a quick but effective debrief, then held a crisis analysis session with the involved stakeholders before proceeding to create a press statement that was distributed to all local media houses within the particular county within the first hour of the disruption occurring.
Result
The Women Work brand did not suffer any business threatening reputation or image damage due to our collaboration with them on crisis communication. News of the commotion and misinformation concerning the brand and a section of Women never made it to National media thanks to our wide network in media and great relationships we have built in the newsrooms over the years. Now that is what we call a crisis averted!
